Jewel of Persian Gulf

Kuwait is a small but enigmatic country situated in the Persian Gulf section of the Middle East, bordering Saudi Arabia, Iran and Iraq – making it exceptionally important due to its geographic location. It is a country full of a melting pot of Arabic and Asian cultures, and one that is unique due to its architecture and beautiful coastlines. Let’s take a look at Kuwait, a jewel of the Persian Gulf.

Kuwait has more to offer than expected and proves that it is a country much more than its oil resources. From fantastic Arabian hospitality and vast expanses of natural scenery to delicious cuisines and impeccable architecture, here are few things to do and places to visit in Kuwait and san diego whale watching.

  • Shop at Souq Al-Mubaraqiya

Arguably Kuwait’s oldest market, Souq Al-Mubaraqiya in Kuwait City is an amazing place to visit for shopaholics and tourists alike for its traditional Arabian experience. One can easily get lost in the maze of shopping streets around the market area – finding everything from spices, olives, and jewellery to souvenirs, vintage artifacts, and traditional fabrics. The iconic city bazaar has played a key role in establishing Kuwait City as a destination for trade well before oil came into the picture. The historical marketplace is great for a day outing but one certainly needs more time to explore everything here.

  • Visit Kuwait’s iconic symbol, the Kuwait Towers

The iconic landmark of Kuwait City has become the symbol of the nation. Three towers that make up the complex, echo the economic resurgence of the country – opened in 1979. It is a combination of modern architecture with traditional Islamic design. The main tower, which is 187 meters tall with its two spheres is the main attraction. One can visit the top of the tower on the viewing sphere at 400 feet above sea level and experience a fantastic bird’s eye view of the city and the Gulf coast. There is also a restaurant, cafe and lounge where one can have an enjoyable time.

  • Experience Islamic culture and architecture at the Grand Mosque

One of the best places in not only Kuwait to witness Islamic architecture, but in the whole of Middle East. The Grand Mosque is one of the best tourist attractions in Kuwait. Located in Kuwait City, it spans 45,000 square meters i.e. 220,000 square feet. The stunning Islamic architecture merged with Persian influences makes for a pleasant day trip. Its 141-foot central dome is awe-inspiring along with the numerous pillars that make up the structure. The only requirements are for one to dress appropriately and then go on to explore the magnificent building.

  • Indulge in history at the Tareq Rajab Musuem

A history aficionado’s dream destination, the Tareq Rajab Museum holds an exquisite collection of thousands and thousands of priceless artefacts, ceramics, jewelry, manuscripts etc. from the ancient world. It is Kuwait’s first minister Tareq Sayyed Rajab and his British wife Jehan Wellborne’s personal collection – first opened in 1980. It is located in a basement turned into a museum, in a villa in the residential locality of Jabriya.

  • Explore the ancient Failaka Island

20 kilometres off the coast of the Kuwaiti mainland from Kuwait City lies the island of Failaka. The name Failaka is thought to be derived from the ancient Greek word for ‘outpost’. It is a one-hour ferry ride and the journey is unforgettable as it exposes the rich coastline of Kuwait enroute the destination. The history of the island is ancient as it is recorded that traders from the historic Sumerian city of Ur lived as long as 4000 years ago! However, its recent history is dark due to it being abandoned during the Gulf War, when Iraqi forced all inhabitants to move to the mainland. It shines a  light on the destruction brought due to war.

  • Scuba dive at Kubbar Island

Kuwait’s coastline is as pristine as they come. If water activities are really your thing, then head to one of the numerous scuba dive spots across the country. Kuwait City is also popular for many scuba dive operators. With its turquoise blue waters, fresh corals and an abundance of marine life, Kubbar Island is among the most popular dive spots in the country. It is located 30 kilometres off the southern coast of Kuwait and is particularly famous for stingrays and other kind of ray fish.

The aforementioned activities are only few of most things that one can engage in during a visit to Kuwait. There is something for everyone here. One can also engage in a variety of other thrilling activities such as gambling, betting and playing online casinos in Kuwait, although it is strictly prohibited by law. Arabianbetting.com is one such resource which provides tips and pointers to indulge in these activities safely and securely. Players, whether old or new, can benefit from a wide variety of bonuses and rewards such as loyalty points, cashbacks, VIP programs and free bets for a wonderful experience. From Blackjack and Roulette to Baccarat and Bingo, the online gaming options are endless.

Kuwait is a wonderful country to visit, full of spectacular beaches, seascapes, traditional cultures, desert landscapes and modern lifestyle. It is a country one must certainly visit in a lifetime.
